Companies with a drop in turnover of 75% or more will have additional support from Social Security for the wages paid for hours worked.

The simplified lay-off (which provides for the suspension of employment contracts) is maintained only for companies closed by government decision or for those that have not yet reached the limit of three monthly extensions. According to Ana Mendes Godinho, the extraordinary support for the gradual recovery, which will be in force between August and December may be requested by companies “from the end of next week.

“Companies that have a drop in turnover equal to or greater than 75% in this phase of the recovery can have a support in which Social Security will also contribute 35% of the period relating to hours worked,” said the Minister of Labor, Solidarity and Social Security, Ana Mendes Godinho.

Support for companies with a turnover drop of 75% or more can only be requested in September, but will be retroactive to August, the minister said.
