PORTUGAL GOLDEN VISA
The Residence Permit for Investment Activity also known as Portugal Golden Visa allows any investor to freely circulate and work in Europe (Schengen Area), without any restrictions.
APPLYING FOR A RESIDENCE PERMIT FOR INVESTMENT ACTIVITY (ARI OR GOLDEN VISA):
Investment or Venture Capital Fund
Amount: ≥ EUR 500,000
Capital transfer of the amount of 500 thousand Euros, or higher, for the acquisition of units of investment funds or venture capital fund of funds dedicated to the capitalisation of companies, capital injected under the Portuguese legislation, whose maturity, at the moment of the investment, is, at least, of five years and, at least, 60% of the investments is realized in commercial companies with head office in national territory.
Green Visa
Amount: ≥ EUR 500,000
The Golden Visa law to be amended for creation of a system of residence authorization based on investing in green projects (Green Visas) any activity carried out in person or through an as a rule, at least one of the following national territory and for a minimum period of five years.
Research and Investigation Activities
Amount: ≥ EUR 500,000
Transfer of capitals for investing in research activities conducted by public or private scientific research institutions involved in the national scientific or technologic system.
Capital Transfer to a Company
Amount: ≥ EUR 350,000
Capital transfer of the amount of EUR 350,000, or higher, for constitution of a commercial society with head office in the national territory, combined with the creation of five permanent working jobs, or for the reinforcement of the share capital of a commercial society with head office in national territory, already existing, with the creation or keeping of working jobs, with a minimum of five permanent jobs, and for a minimum period of three years.
Artistic Productions
Artistic Productions
Amount: EUR 250,000
Capital transfer with a value equal to or above 250 thousand Euros for investing in artistic output or supporting the arts, for reconstruction or refurbishment of the national heritage, through the local and central authorities, public institutions, public corporate sector, public foundations, private foundations of public interest, networked local authorities, local corporate sector organizations, local associations and public cultural associations, pursuing activities of artistic output, and reconstruction or maintenance of the national heritage.
Purchase of Real Estate Property for Rehabilitation
Purchase of Real Estate Property for Rehabilitation
Amount: ≥ EUR 350,000
Acquisition of real estate with construction completed at least 30 years ago or located in an urban rehabilitation area, with the purpose of promoting its rehabilitation (additional tax benefits and reduced rates credit for the construction are applicable).
Capital Transfer
Capital Transfer
Amount: ≥ EUR 1,500,000
Bank deposits Public debt securities of the Portuguese State Acquisition of securities and acquisition of shares in commercial companies.
Real Estate Investment
Real Estate Investment
Acquisition of property worth at least EUR 500,000 per owner or co-owner.
Job Creation
Job Creation
Create a company in Portugal with at least 10 working positions.
The Investment Activities can benefit from a reduction of 20% of the total amount, in case they are made in low-density urban areas (less than 100 inhabitants per km2).
The Golden Visa will be issued temporarily for an initial period of one year, renewable for consecutive periods of two years. After this initial period of 5 years, the investor can request the renovation of the temporary ARI for a consecutive period of 2 years or request a Permanent Residence Permit for Investment Activity and finally the request for the Portuguese Citizenship.
Advantages of the Golden Visa Portugal program
This regime allows nationals of non-EU and non-EEE countries to be entitled to:
- Residence visa waiver for entering Portugal;
- Living and working in Portugal, as long they stay in the country for a period of 7 or more days, in the first year, and 14 or more days, in the subsequent years;
- Visa exemption for travelling within the Schengen Area;
- Family reunification;
- Applying for permanent residence;
- Applying for Portuguese citizenship by naturalization.
Who can apply?
All citizens who are not nationals of an EU, nor EEA, Member States who carry out an investment activity, personally or through a company, incorporated in Portugal or incorporated in another EU State and a permanent establishment in Portugal.
