The car company wants 450 workers at the Volkswagen Digital Solutions technological hub in Portugal and is already looking for a new office space.
By 2023, Volkwagen intends to invest more than 90 million in Lisbon and have a team of up to 450 workers, reiterating its investment in Portuguese capital of Portugal.
The Volkswagen Digital Solutions technological hub intends to hire around 70 employees by the end of this year.
The company started by investing in Portugal in 2018, with an investment of 5 million euros, but the company’s rapid and sustainable growth in Portugal now allows Volkswagen to raise its numbers and continue its investment in Portugal.
Currently, the Volkswagen team in Portugal is spread over several offices, and the investment, in addition to increasing the number of workers and empowering the company, is also aimed at bringing together all workers in a single office area.
The Volkswagen Digital Solutions hub has installed units linked to the development of “application management services” (AMS), dedicated to application and software support for various brands of the group; the “MAN digital hub” unit, which develops digital products for the areas of logistics, transport and commercial vehicles for MAN’s trucks and buses; or the software development center, SDC:LX.
Mark Jacobi, managing director & CFO of Volkswagen Digital Solutions, also said that he does not intend to have 450 workers in the office, as he believes that this model is outdated and that they will bet on a hybrid regime for workers, who can alternate between homeworking and face-to-face work.
The head of this technology hub in Portugal also explains that “IT in Portugal works well because the Portuguese like the challenge, to do the impossible”, to justify the investment in Portugal and the success that Volkswagen Digital Solutions has had with the Portuguese team.+351 915 990 790 | +351 289 098 720 |
