After the 24 awards in the European edition of the World Travel Awards back in October, Portugal has now won 12 in the world edition.

Known as the Oscars of tourism, the World Travel Awards distinguishes the top destinations of the world and all the top factors about tourism of those destinations.

The main awards won by Portugal were: The Best Island Destination in the World (Madeira), Best Beach Destination (Algarve) and The Best Adventure Tourism Attraction in the World (Passadiços do Paiva).
