The Swiss multinational Fischer Connectors, a company specialized in high-tech connectors, has chosen to invest in Portugal in order to expand its business.
Fischer will invest €5.6 million in the construction of a new factory in Amarante. The Swiss group plans to hire about 100 employees, and in the first phase is expected to recruit around 50 employees.
The plan is for the factory to be built by the end of 2022, and it will be geared towards the assembly of connectors. It is also the first factory of this kind outside Switzerland. The construction of the new factory in Amarante will reduce production costs.
This investment is fundamental for the city of Amarante, as well as it is very important for Portugal in general, and confirms the trend of companies to invest in Portugal.
For Fischer Connectors, the industrial history, cost base, work environment, cultural factors, talent and availability were the main reasons that led the Swiss group to choose Portugal.
The investment is supposed to confirm the “growth strategy as a global connectivity partner of original equipment manufacturers worldwide”, as Jonathan Brossard, CEO of Fischer Connectors, explains.
