Portugal won 23 awards – World Travel Awards

Portugal was voted for the second consecutive year the Best European Destination for travelers at the 25the World Travel Awards (WTA).

Lisbon was voted the Best City Destination in Europe for the third consecutive year and for Best European Cruise Port with 521,000 passengers disembarking in Lisbon in 2017 and more expected this year. Madeira was awarded Best European Island Destination.

Winner of Europe’s Leading Design Hotel 2018 went to Lisboa 1908 Hotel, while the winner of Europe’s Leading Family Resort 2018 went to Ria Park Hotel in the Algarve. Passadiços do Paiva won Europe’s Leading Adventure Tourist Attraction and Europe’s Leading Tourism Development Project.

Portugal’s Tourism Bureau (Turismo de Portugal) was once again voted the Best Official European Tourism Organization. In total, Portugal won 23 awards.

World Travel Awards distinguishes and rewards excellence across all sectors of the tourism industry. Winners are selected through an online poll involving consumers from the general public and thousands of professionals from the tourism and travel industry worldwide.
