The country registered the highest increase among the European Union (EU) member-states in industrial production.
Portugal recorded the biggest rise in industrial production among European Union (EU) member states in August, both in the year-over-year variation (2.1 percent) and in the chain (10.0 percent).
According to the European Statistical Office (Eurostat), compared with August 2019, industrial production fell by 7.2 percent in the euro area and 6.2 percent in the EU, with Portugal showing the biggest rise (2.1 percent), in line with Lithuania and followed by Poland (1.2 percent).
In all the other member states, the indicator fell in year-on-year terms, with the largest falls being seen in Luxembourg (-15.8%), Germany (-11.2%) and France (-7.3%).
Portugal showed the biggest monthly advance (10.0 percent), followed by Italy (7.7 percent), Hungary and Sweden (6.7 percent each).
