New European Fund for SMEs so that they can benefit from their intellectual property rights.

This new SME Fund, made available by the European Union Intellectual Property Institute, supports up to 50% of the value of national patent application fees, up to a maximum amount of 750 euros per beneficiary SME.

SMEs can also apply for direct financial support in the form of reimbursement of 75% of expenses incurred with the submission of one or more applications for registration of Trademarks and Designs or Models within the EU or 50% of expenses for applications for international brands and designs; or reimbursement of 90% of expenses incurred with IP pre-diagnosis services (“IP scan”), up to a maximum amount of 1,500 euros per company.

Applications can be made throughout the year, until December 16, 2022, and one of the bases of this fund is to reduce administrative bureaucracy for SMEs. Refunds will later be made through vouchers.

Who is this fund for?

As mentioned, it is aimed at Small and Medium-sized Enterprises in the European Union. The application can be submitted by an owner, an employee, or an authorized representative of an EU SME acting on behalf of the SME. Grants are always transferred directly to the SME.
