Applications are now open for individual and co-promoted Research and Development (R&D) projects.
Projects can be carried out by a company (SIID Individual) or between companies and/or with non-business entities from the R&I System (SIID Co-promotion), in line with the priority areas of the Research and Innovation Strategy for Intelligent Specialization (RIS3). Operations that include industrial research and experimental development activities leading to the creation of new products, processes or services or the introduction of significant improvements to existing products, processes or services are eligible for support.
Beneficiaries
Micro, small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) and Small Mid Cap companies.
Non-business entities in the research and innovation system (ENESII), including those in the autonomous regions of the Azores and Madeira, are also beneficiaries in the case of operations financed by the Innovation and Digital Transition Program.
Geographical Area
Mainland Portugal (North, Center, Lisbon, Alentejo and Algarve).
Maximum co-funding rates
Up to 80%. Non-reimbursable, non-repayable funding.

Phase 1: 31/01/2024 (6 p.m.) – exclusively for applicants who have registered their aid application
Phase 2: 30/04/2024 (18 h) – for all applications, with or without registration of the aid application
Phase 3: 30/08/2024 (18 h) – for all applications, with or without registration of the aid application
Phase 4: 30/12/2024 (18 h) – for all applications, with or without registration of the aid application
Eligible expenditure
i. Costs of the beneficiary’s technical staff dedicated to R&D activities and salary costs for hiring human resources, including teleworking;
ii. Raw materials and consumables.
iii. Purchase of services from third parties, including technical and scientific assistance and consultancy;
iv. Purchase of scientific and technical instruments and equipment;
v. Acquisition of specific software for the project;
vi. Expenditure on promoting and disseminating the results;
vii. Trips and stays abroad directly attributable to the project;
viii. Expenses with the certification process of the research, development and innovation management system management system;
ix. Expenses with the intervention of a technical-scientific auditor;
x. Acquisition of patents;
xi. ROC/TOC expenses;
xii. Indirect costs.
