Renault’s investment of 47.9 million at the Cacia plant will allow modernization and the creation of new jobs.

Renault and the Portuguese Government will sign an Investment Agreement that directs 47.9 million euros to create a new gearbox. To be produced in Portugal at the Cacia plant, this gerabox is destined to be used in eco-efficient vehicles. Renault’s investment will allow the modernization of the industial unit, creating a new assembly line and at least 150 new jobs.

In total there will be more than 100 million euros of investment in Cacia. Almost half of it originates from community funds and financial incentives granted by the Portuguese Government.

The Portuguese Government enters into the Investment Agreement with Renault through the Portuguese Agency for Investment and Foreign Trade (AICEP). AICEP will be in charge of the project coordination.

Once again Renault chooses to invest in Portugal, reinforcing its presence in the country and the quality of Portuguese human resources. Cacia was considered the best factory within the group in terms of production of gearboxes for the past three years. Cacia plant exports the totality of its production to 12 countries over 4 continents.
